What people ask us before the first call

Do I really need a lawyer to buy or sell a house?

You are signing a contract that moves the largest sum most people spend. A lawyer reads it, explains it and speaks for you if something goes wrong. Many buyers and sellers are told by others that it is not needed; we think the first read is worth having.

When should I call?

Before you sign the contract. Once you have signed, most terms are fixed.

What does a flat fee cover?

Contract review, communication with the agent and lender, the title review, attendance at the closing and filing of the deed. Title insurance, recording fees, transfer taxes and lender charges are set by others and are listed separately.

Will you tell me the fee before I hire you?

Yes, in writing, and it names what is included and what is not. If your file turns out to be more than we quoted, we tell you before doing the extra work.

Do you act for landlords, renters or developers?

Not at this office. We handle people buying, selling and clearing the title on a home. If you need another kind of real estate lawyer, we will say so and point you elsewhere.

Can you work with my agent?

Yes. We copy you on every message and keep to the dates in your contract.

How do I send documents safely?

Not through the website form. After your first call we send a secure upload link, and we confirm any money instructions by phone.

Did we miss yours?

Send us the question and the address. We will write back the same working day.
